Oxfords to £450 at Carlisle

The annual consignment of Langrigg Oxford Downs from Andrew Rutherford, Guards Farm, Gretna, Dumfriesshire met an excellent trade at the 2022 Carlisle native breeds sale.

Top price from the Langrigg pen was a £450 sale for a shearling ewe by Langrigg Turalyon which went to James Woodall to establish his new Beddlemyre flock of Oxfords at Row End Farm, Waberthwaite, Millom, Cumbria. The same buyer fought off strong competition around the ring to secure all four gimmers from Langrigg for his new flock at an average of £397.50. The gimmers had run with former breed record holder and Worcester 2021 champion, the 1350gns Billesdons Braveheart.

A large-framed Langrigg shearling ram by Greenlands Gal’dan made £400 to Matthew Tomkins, buying for his Hallsford flock at Haggsbeck, Hethersgill, Carlisle.
